Today was the day, the moment in which Callion’s future was changed forever. Over the course of his time on Planet Earth, having a role to play with the interaction of various characters across the world, and honing his body into peak physical condition, there came a moment in his life where he learned of a fabled Martial Artist master that was living in the Middle of the Sea accompanied by an Old Turtle, and someone that helped train some of the most powerful warriors of the Planet’s History. But how exactly did Callion come across this knowledge? Well, the news of such a character actually came from none other than Chief Cohol; the newly installed Police Chief of North City. During the peacetime from having saved the Continent from nearly being taken over by the Red Ribbon Army, he informed the Saiyan that due to his fighting martial artist gi, he should go and seek an old man with the name and title: Master Roshi. In Cohol’s words, the old man was the person responsible for having trained the legendary warriors who went by their respective names in the annals of history; ‘Son Goku’ and ‘Krillin’. These two famous students of the Turtle Hermit School became icons in their own right, having participated in the Tenkaichi Budokai Tournaments of ages past, and not only saved the World but the entire Universe time and again!
“I’m telling you son, this man is the real deal. I’m sure you’ll benefit immensely from his training and then some!” Chief Cohol spoke to Callion in a form of a flash back, the two sitting in the park at North City when the moment Cohol had first spoken about Master Roshi to the Saiyan. “Roshi and I go some ways back, but that old coot is far older than I am! Just make sure to treat him as if he is my age and not call him out for being really old, that is one way to assure that he won’t train you at all.” Callion took the advice with several nods of his head, slowly getting back up onto his feet. “Thank you Chief Cohol. Is there anything else I should do to also gain his favour to train me as an Official Student?” The Saiyan asked, wanting to know one last piece of advice the old Commanding Officer of the North City Police Department, the old man slowly smiled before turning his head around and faced Callion dead on, and with a serious look on his face which immediately transformed into a comedic smile he replied thusly; “The latest monthly issue of Playboy and Penthouse!” At a split second, the Saiyan collapsed to the floor in the traditional anime fashion from having heard something so stupid in his life, immediately standing back up with a crimson, flustered look on his face. “YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS! THERE IS NO WAY I AM GOING TO GIVE THAT GIFT TO MASTER ROSHI!! WHAT WILL HE EVEN SAY!?”
For the Chief, he couldn’t help but chuckle merrily at the idea, waving his hands at the Saiyan at the hopes he’d calm down. “There, there. I can understand your embarrassed look. But trust me, you’ll be in his good books if you present such a gift to the Old Pervert. Now go on and get that magazine and make your way to him. You can’t miss where he lives; smack dab in the middle of the sea with a single house that has the words ‘Kame House’. Don’t worry, I’ll even give the Master a call for him to be prepared for your arrival. Think of it as my way of repaying you for your assistance against the Red Ribbon Army.” The Police Chief smiled, as he slowly turned on his heels and left the scene, waving goodbye to the Saiyan Monk: “Good luck with your training Callion!” The Saiyan at the time smiled, having regained his calm and collective nature and decided, against his better judgement to do just that, having gone and purchased the latest magazine issue and flew towards the fabled Kame House. Now at the Present day, Callion had managed to arrive at Kame House, right in the middle of the Sea – just as Chief Cohol said so, his sources having come true once again. His eyes scanned the impressive house before him, the very building itself still remaining strong after all these years, having been completely unphased by time itself.
In that instance, the simple door to Master Roshi’s house flung open, and before Callion’s eyes approached the Legendary old man himself, holding onto his walking stick in one hand and pulled off the classic ‘V for Victory’ pose with his right hand. “Ah! Hello whipper snapper! You must be Callion right? Chief Cohol told me all about you kiddo.” Master Roshi greeted the Saiyan smiling in his signature manner, whilst behind those old school shades, he was analysing the young man from head to toe, keeping his composure when he took the opportunity to read Callion’s power level before his eyes. “Well, well… A Saiyan right on my doorstep. I havn’t seen one of these since Goku and Vegeta… Has it really been so long since I last saw one? His strong I will give him that, and such a choice of clothing and look on his face. He almost reminds me of Goku himself if he was actually disciplined.” Master Roshi thought in his mind, to which his thoughts were confirmed when the Saiyan Monk proceeded to perform a respectful Martial Artist bow to the man, clenching his right fist and connected to his open left palm as he bends his body to the Master. “It is an honour and a privilege to meet you Master Roshi. With your permission, I humbly ask for you to teach me in the Turtle Hermit School, and learn your ways of combat and to better myself as a student of Martial Arts itself.”
Master Roshi, upon hearing such a request slowly stroke his chin, pondering on whether or not he’d approve of the idea of once more taking on a Saiyan. The idea intrigued the Turtle Hermit regardless of what alignment Callion served, for it had been such a long time since Roshi had the honour of training a student before, and now here was one – a well mannered and respectful student, one who even far exceeded the likes of Goku and Vegeta in having manners, that caused the old man to smile. “I must admit my boy, you have completely exceeded my expectations in you as a Saiyan.” Master Roshi replied, causing Callion to slowly look up with a surprised look, “Come on now, surely you must’ve heard of the one called Goku right? He was a Saiyan just like you back in the old days, and goodness me he had some power in him the likes of which I still remember to this day. If anything, you remind me a lot of Goku yourself. Seeing as how Chief Cohol informed me of your bravery and power in stopping the Red Ribbon Army, and having managed to get here with the power that you possess…” With a small turn of his heels, Roshi turned his back on the Saiyan, placing down the staff to one side and placed both hands on his back, his voice immediately took on a more serious tone within an instant, “I am curious though Callion my boy, If I were to take you on as my student and teach you the Turtle Hermit Special Technique… I would like to ask for what you personally think of yourself on an Alignment Scale… Are you Good… Or Evil… If I were you, I’d be honest and truthful to me.”
That was certainly a question that caught the Saiyan by surprise? Before he could be accepted by the Turtle Hermit, he’d have to look within himself and ask if he walked the path of Light and Dark, Good and Evil. Such concepts, whilst can be discussed for hours on end, was something in this world to be rather serious and in the lights of Master Roshi, it was something that he held very closely and rightfully so considering the years he had fought against powerful opponents and dangerous enemies. Callion looked at his hands for the moment and closed his eyes, Master Roshi slowly turned his head just a little to gaze at the Saiyan Monk in thought about himself on an alignment spectrum before he heard the next words that came out of his mouth, “Well Master Roshi, if I had to be entirely honest with you… I’d say I am more of a True Neutral person.” Callion answered, placing a hand on his chest, his head turned to the right to see the vast ocean blue. “If you were to ask me on the nature of Good and Evil, I’d say there are a form of not just a lifestyle, but a philosophy and a way of thinking. Those who are good show from living a life of peace, strong in knowledge, great in serenity and harmonious with the world. This way of thinking makes an individual strive to become a gentile and altruistic hero in the extreme sense in wanting to achieve a world in its natural state.” Callion then began to look at his hands, before turning his head to the left to look at the otherside of the sea.
“Of course, there is Evil. Those who are evil see such a life as a means to an end, to have power to fulfil their desires and not care for anyone at all. While one can argue that their goals could, in theory, be seen as good. This makes their philosophy makes them egotistical in nature and care only for themselves, which by results leads a person to doing evil deeds because they don’t care how they affect others.” The Saiyan explained, now having Master Roshi’s full attention, amazed to see such wisdom and intelligence within a member of the Warrior Race. For someone so young and being able to see such a factor with reasoning and a solid ground of a response, made even the Turtle Hermit himself slowly stroke his beard as he listened to Callion’s answer. The Saiyan monk then clenched his hands, now facing Master Roshi: “As for me. I recognise that as a True Neutral member on the alignment spectrum that I see that there is more than one side than the other. I am a Martial Artist for it is my duty to do good and use my knowledge in combat to help people. I am also a Saiyan, a member of a Warrior Race that conquers planets and crush those who stand in my way. I see and understand these sides, whilst at the same time refuse to follow these paths. I am Callion; A Saiyan who follows my own way in life, if that life takes me to helping others, then so be it. If the path puts me forward into crushing my opponents, then so be it as well. I do not believe in an absolute truth, but instead push forward to make my own future to make it a truth.”
There was silence between the two, a solid 5-minute Silence to be exact with neither one backing down for the moment before Master Roshi pulled out his permanent pen and began to scribble his Turtle Hermit Logo onto his new Gi that was to be bestowed to a Saiyan. “Never in all my years have I ever witnessed a Saiyan with such profound wisdom and insight to who they are. Callion… I, Master Roshi, do hereby take you to be my newfound Student of the Turtle Hermit way. Your maturity and understanding of who you are has completely won me over, and that is something that I can truly respect. Now Get dressed and lets get started with your training…”
“Because I am going to teach you the Kamehameha.”
